Some of the most powerful lessons I've ever learned didn't come from a classroom — they came from a rugby field.
My school rugby coach didn't just teach me how to play the game. He taught me how to show up, how to handle adversity, and how to become someone worth following. Those lessons stayed with me long after the final whistle.
I'm Clint Bowers, the author behind Books by Bowers — a collection of practical eBooks written for teachers and coaches who are doing the real work every day.
Where this all began
I'm not a teacher myself, but education has always been close to home. My wife, Annie, has spent time in the classroom as a locum teacher, my brother Craig has spent many years in teaching, and my daughter Rochelle is training to become a teacher. Through their experiences and many conversations about the realities of the classroom, I've developed enormous respect for the people who teach and support young people every day..
That knowledge, passed on to me through the people I love most, became the foundation for my education eBooks. Books like All Behavior Is Communication were born from real conversations with real teachers about what they actually face in the classroom.
The rugby connection
I played rugby at school and later at Edgewood College, and the game shaped me in ways I'm still discovering.. But it was my school coach who left the biggest mark — not through tactics or drills, but through the life lessons he wove into every session.
That experience is what drives my rugby coaching guides. I believe great coaching is about more than the game. It's about the young people in front of you, and the lasting impact you can have on their lives.
Why I write
I write for the teacher who's trying to understand why a student keeps acting out. I write for the coach who wants to do more than win matches. These are practical, honest resources — written not from a lecture theatre, but from a place of genuine respect for the work you do.
Books by Bowers — practical knowledge, written with heart.
